What is otf technology?
Oral thin films (OTFs) are strips constructed with water soluble polymers that dissolve rapidly upon contact with saliva on the tongue. The contents are subsequently ingested and metabolized through the digestive system via the GI tract. Due to the innovative formulation, there may be a potential increase in efficacy, absorption rate, and onset of action. Since OTFs do not need to be swallowed, they are an ideal mode of delivery for pediatric and geriatric patients, in addition to patients with dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), nausea, and neurodegenerative diseases.
